So…it’s virtually impossible to grade a data analysis project if the kid didn’t include her data on her poster. How am I supposed to know if her mean, median, range, mode, upper quartile, lower quartile, or histogram (aka, about 75% of the project) are accurate?
Maybe I should have made including your data worth more points…

It astonishes me the number of times I’ve had to tell my 8th graders to keep their pants on and/or not pull down anyone else’s pants this year.
I always put off entering interim grades because I hate having to go through and enter comments for everyone. Then I remember just how much mileage I can get out of “needs to complete all assignments on time”.
Finally heard back from Ohio State…I got in!
I have to get up around 5:30 every day to get ready for school. Why is it that my internal clock thinks that the best time to motivate me to do stuff is between 10pm and 1am?
Seriously—Since 10, I’ve gone to the gym, made my lesson plans for tomorrow, written a quiz, and worked on grading.
I have a separate blog that I use to post assignments for my math classes. Almost any homework assignment I post gets reblogged by someone (usually different people every time) and I have no idea why.

Seriously—first night in nearly a week where I can sleep for more than 5 hours, and this happens….
I swear, my friends find something to argue about every time I stay over.
This is why I don’t live with my sister.
(Well, that and the fact that it would be totally impractical.)
Writing a test and listening to Disney music….I am a super cool person.
Hopefully I finish soon and can still make it to the gym tonight. I’ve eaten terribly for about the past 4 days.
Dear Ohio State,
If you could please accept my application and also offer me an assistantship so I can actually afford to go to grad school, that would be fantastic. I want to live in a world where I don’t have to deal with middle school and high school kids anymore (or at least much less frequently). For right now, if you could just let me know that you got my last recommendation, I guess that would be a good place to start, especially since the deadline to apply for funding is only a week away.

Go get a cat from the shelter the same day we had planned to get together for Christmas. That’s definitely something that couldn’t have waited another week.
It’s not like we pushed Christmas back to Martin Luther King Day weekend because you couldn’t make it the weekend we picked out before Christmas.
Oh wait…we did.
So yeah…this is just one of three giant Word documents of make up work I’m giving to my students over break. I did it on Word to save paper by putting multiple assignments on a page, and just this one ended up being 84 pages long.
I really hope they actually do it so that I won’t have wasted 2 days of my life and so that they won’t fail for the semester.
I am going to attempt to not be cynical as I begin the thankless task of pulling together a couple hundred missing assignments for my students to do over winter break so that they hopefully won’t fail my class.
